Recent advances in diagnosis and treatment of immunodeficiencies
Abstract
The understanding of the inherited immune disorders and the possibility of their prenatal diagnosis require the knowledge of the normal development of the immune system. In this paper we have discussed briefly 1) The ontology of the human lymphoid system, T and B lymphocytes development and synthesis of the complement components in the fetal liver, 2) The new techniques of the prenatal diagnosis and postnatal diagnostic clues of the immunodeficiency disorders, and 3) The new and recent progress in the treatment of immunodeficiencies such as bone marrow grafting, intravenous gamma globulin injections, thymosines, etc.
