Advantages and limitations of electromyography
Abstract
Electromyography, nerve conduction velocity studies and newer related techniques like surveying the F-wave, H-reflex and repetitive stimulation test are the best screening modalities in muscle and peripheral nerve diseases, but there are some nuances pertaining to the developmental properties of the developing peripheral nervous system and muscle in children. In this reviewing article after a short discussion on the advantages and limitations, a brief guideline to use and interprete these techniques properly in pediatric age group is presented
