Hypertrophic pyloric stenosis: A retrospective study of 130 cases
Abstract
In the last 10 years 130 patients were treated for hypertrophic pyloric stenosis in the department of pediatric surgery in children's medical center, Tehran. The male to female ratio was 7:1 (114/16). The mean age for surgery was 6 weeks (18 days to 4 months). Vomiting was seen from first days to 55th day after birth. Pyloric mass was palpated in 55 cases by pediatrician and in 70 cases (53.8%) by pediatric surgeon. Complications occurred in 12 cases (8.1%): Perforation 2 cases, septicemia 6 cases, renal failure 2 cases, heart failure 2 cases, 3 deaths (2.3%) occurred due to heart and renal failure
