Eosinophilic gastroenteritis
Abstract
Eosinophilic gastroenteritis is rarely seen in children. We report on a 13-year old boy who presented with abdominal pain and vomiting for 2 years prior to admission. Although the showed typical clinical and pathologic findings in samples of gastrointestinal tract biopsies and eosinophils in bone marrow aspirate, there was no eosinophilia in peripheral blood. He responded to prednisolone treatment and now, 2 years after discontinuance of the therapy, is in good condition and free of signs of the disease
