Varicella-Zoster Pneumonia in an immunodeficient patient
Abstract
This article reports on 15-year-old boy who was admitted with varicella and subsequently developed respiratory tract symptoms with pneumonia alterations in the chest radiography. A history of several attacks on infectious diseases was suggestive of immunodeficiency that was confirmed by immunologic tests showing a considerable defect in cellular immunity. Humoral immunity was intact. The patient survived by intravenous acyclovir therapy
