A Ramiar, N Kalantari

Abstract

Background: G6PD-Deficency is the most important disease of the hexose monophosphate pathway. It is a X linked disease and more common in male. It is responsible for three clinical syndrome. 1) An episodic hemolytic anemia induced by certain drug and infection, rarely by fava beans and Henna; 2) Chronic Non- spherocytic hemolytic anemia; 3) Neonatal jaundice.
Henna can cause hemolysis in G6PD deficient patients because of lawson. Lawson has oxidative property like to naphtalin.
Case report: We report on a 7 year old boy with pallor, jaundice and hemogluinuria after application of henna on his skin. In laboratory test his G6PD enzyme activity was deficient.
